I'll unbox and rate this WB Singapore Airlines 777-300ER in 10 categories.
The design of the box is fair, nothing particularly impressive. The model itself is well protected by the foam. I'll give packaging an 8.
This model comes with magnetic landing gear and a display stand. It also has a plastic card with a special “stay home” icon to remind us that this product was manufactured during the health crisis. But there’s an embarrassing quality control issue here. First of all, the nose gear door does not sit in far enough into the slot. It doesn’t just look pretty awkward, the bigger trouble is it falls off all the time. The reason? There’s no magnet or whatsoever to keep it slotted firmly. Although the aircraft looks very handsome on the stand. I'll only give accessories a 7.
This WB mould has done a very good job to capture the look and feel of a 777-300ER from nose to tail. The look of the extended wingtips is especially impressive. The complicated tailcone is also very impressive. The overall mould of this model is clean and sharp, with no obvious flaws on it. For that, I’ll give a 9.
Take a look at these huge GE-90 engines! They look very realistic. The see-through cores look very good. And the fan blades are all in correct shape and scale. I'll give engines a 9.
The wings and horizontal stabilizers are very well attached. The seam between the vertical stabilizer and the fuselage is almost invisible. The two engines are well aligned, and have very good engine ground clearance. I’ll say it deserves a 9 for build.
The landing gear legs and joints are exceptionally well made. Ever the wheelhubs are very detailed. It's extremely easy and smooth to put the gear on. One very minor complaint I’d make is the colouring of the gear legs. It seems lacking a metallic feel. And to my eye, the nose wheel is a little bit oversized. The main gears can tilt upwards. So, it looks very cool. I'll give undercarriage an 8.
On the nose, we have very finely printed nose cone and windshield wipers. The aerials, navigation lights, SATCOM, and APU exhaust are all very well shaped and come as individual attached parts. We can also find all pitot tubes, static ports, illumination lights and bay doors printed on the fuselage. One exceptional thing is: the landing lights on the wings are presented by inserted gems, so are the four on the nose gear leg! I’ll give a 9 here for details.
I think WB has done a good job to present Singapore Airlines’ livery here. The size, position and typeface of all the logos and titles are very detailed and precise. There's nothing wrong or missing. I'll say it’s worth a 10 for livery. For painting, SQ’s dark blue, orange and gold colours are all correct. The white paint being used is shiny, sharp and nice. There's no discrepancy here. I’ll give painting a 10.
For value, Singapore Airlines’ models are always highly sought after in the market. While more attention has been paid to SQ’s A380 models, it seems its 777s have been relatively neglected by the manufacturers in the last decades. This WB product was first released in late 2020, and a rerun had already been seen in mid-2021. It’s definitely worth collecting. I’ll give a 9.
I'll give this WB Singapore Airlines 777-300ER a total of 88 points in my ARAIG Index.
