The new 2022 Toyota Hilux is a sturdy pickup truck that sits on the same robust platform as its predecessor. However, for 2022, this model will only gain mid-cycle improvements, including a better visual look. For a start, the forthcoming Hilux features an attractive front fascia with a reshaped grille and improved LED lighting system.

The dimensions and the vehicle’s shape will remain intact, as per the latest news. For the first time, the manufacturer will, alongside the standard truck, also introduce the Toyota Hilux GR Sport model. This variant comes with a GR-branded front grille and body-coloured wheel-arch flares. On top of that, it rolls on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.

On the inside, the 2022 Toyota Hilux is getting some minor updates. However, the same layout will remain, and the cabin still looks modern and upright. Like before, Toyota offers Hilux with Double Cab, a two-door Single Cab, and an Extra Cab. The double-cab is the most favourite, and it has seating for four regular-sized adults, though five occupants will be in a pinch.

The manufacturer used standard equipment as an 8.0-inch touchscreen, familiar Touch 2 system, Apple and Android compatibility, and few charging USBs in terms of technology. The nine-speaker JBL hi-fi is available as well, but only on the top-spec Invincible X version.

Under the hood, the new 2022 Toyota Hilux will once again use the same powertrains. Precisely, the manufacturer offers two of them. The standard setup is a 2.4-litre engine that provides 150 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. Toyota offers both automatic and manual transmission with this engine.

Besides, the more potent is an optional engine consisting of a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine with 175 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. There is also a rumour that the hybrid model is in the works, but exact figures are not available at this point.

The sales of the redesigned Hilux variant will begin in the summertime, as per the latest news. Besides some minor exterior upgrades, the upcoming model should also introduce a better cabin.

The price of the 2022 Toyota Hilux will start at around $28,000, while more upper trims can easily reach $35,000. The closest competitions of this pickup truck are the Ford Ranger, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Volkswagen Amarok.
