Here is the first test run of the original 58057 Tamiya Bigwig with a brushless 3500kv motor and the KForce-Racing On Road Buggy tire/wheel set ... which I forgot to glue.
Just tested a similar set of Absima tire/wheels, which came pre-glued, so I didn't even think of gluing these. The result speaks for itself and there is only one to blame. Myself. Both the Bigwig and the K-Force set did excellent though.
This is a "barn find", a second hand good deal. It was dusty and dirty but needed no real major work. I cleaned it up, replaced a part, moved a couple of stickers and painted and installed a new driver. Looks sweet, although I would have prefered my own paint job. I might do another Tamiya Bigwig rerelease body for it some day, keeping the original for the run time.
A few days ago I uploaded a raw 4K clip from the same run: https://youtu.be/9D-HGVn_S2E
You can find more information about the K-Force Racing tire/wheel set, as well as other very affordable 2WD/4WD buggy on road wheel sets in this unboxing video: https://youtu.be/KLm-So6aolo
I am looking very much forward trying it out off road with the original tires, as soon as time allows it. This time I just wanted to try it out, to see if it actually works and can handle the brushless motor. After a few more runs I will install a brushed motor, but I just had to try this set up first.
Check out my channel for many more Tamiya RC models, both vintage/originals, re-releases and modern releases.
