I'm a bit baffled and shocked, to say the least. These where marketed by 3Racing as the World's Best RC Hop Up Parts. Let's see about that. Here's an assembly and test of a brand new set of 3Racing DT-02 Shocks - on the Tamiya DT-03 Racing Fighter 1/10 2WD Buggy RC Car ... versus the GPM Racing Shocks from the last test, the stock CVA shocks on the Tamiya DT-03 Neo Fighter Buggy and the original DT-02 MS Hop Up Shocks.
Are you shocked too? Would love to hear what shocks you are running your DT-02 or DT-03 with, in the comment section.

- GPM Racing DT-02/03 Aluminium Front C-Hubs Set DT3019
- GPM Racing DT-02/03 Aluminium Rear Wheel Hex Adaptor Set DT3010R-B
The plan is actually to remove most of the DT-02 MS parts - and re-use these in another project. Already got some new parts from both Tamiya and more from GPM Racing. Hopefully it will turn out better than this dreadful start. But hopefully it will save somebody else, watching this video, from wasting money on these shocks when upgrading the DT-02 or DT-03.
Off camera, I did try to mess around with both oil and springs. The tricky part, I found, is that both the GPM shocks and 3Racing shocks do not fit the usual Tamiya shock diameter . And that left me with little choice of springs - as most of my spare parts, including my springs, are "Tamiya-size". If anyone knows where one can buy other (softer, shorter) springs that are suitable I would love to hear about it.
And well, even though the 3Racing shocks are approx. half-the-price compared to Tamiya's own aluminum hop-up shocks for the "D-buggies" (DF-02, DT-02, DT-03, DF-03) - the performance, as you can see in the video are worth every penny. From a far it's hard to see the difference. But what a quality difference of the parts. Especially the shock bodies feel so different. And the assembly and fitment of the parts are again so different. Everything is just so much better when it comes to Tamiya. I would even call the stock CVA shocks a hop up part compared to 3Racing and GPM Racing.
And no: I don't suspect that a battery in the car during the tests would make any real difference. Maybe a heavy old 6S 6000 mah NiMH might make a difference, but not a light modern 2S LiPo.
