The Roban EC130 RC Helicopter is an impressively large, 800 size super scale helicopter with a fenestron tail rotor, also commonly called a "fan tail".
In this unboxing, we'll be looking at the build quality of this huge RC helicopter kit from fiberglass, paint, mechanics, and other scale details along with packaging. After all, purchasing a big expensive kit like this is a little nerve racking wondering if it will arrive at your door step in one piece.
There is little detailed information about these kits, so that's the main reason I'm sharing my thoughts & journey with this kit to help you decide if it's a scale helicopter kit you might also like to build and fly.
While I've built and flown many larger RC helicopters (nitro, gas, electric, and turbine), this will be my very first experience with a fenestron tail rotor. We have all heard the potential problems of fan tails such as poor tail authority and LTE (loss of tail rotor effectiveness). Are such concerns really true, or is it a lack of strong enough tail servo, improper setup, lack of fenestron flying experience, combination, other?
That's what this Roban EC130 series of review, build, and test flight videos will hopefully answer.
I purchased this Roban EC130 800 super scale kit from the only Roban RC helicopter dealer here in North America - Motion RC. Here's the link if you want to check it out in more detail:
