OpenTX Helicopter Setup tutorial using OpenTX University's collective pitch RC helicopter template. This is the BASE FOUNDATION TEMPLATE I use for ALL my RC helicopters regardless of size, stabilization type, or power type (electric, nitro & turbine).
The whole idea of this template, is to give your OpenTX radio / transmitter, all the familiar helicopter specific functions that traditional computerized radios with helicopter programming have given us for years.
Once you have this base OpenTX CP Helicopter template saved in your OpenTX radio, you'll then simply copy/duplicate it for every RC helicopter model you add to your radio thereafter; and then fine tune the values in the template for each individual helicopter, to set it up properly - both mechanically, and for your specific flying style and skill level.
Having this OpenTX CP helicopter template not only saves massive amounts of time, it keeps all your collective pitch RC helicopter setups standardized and consistent. Every heli you fly will have the same switch layouts and functions. Exactly like any traditional computerized RC radio with heli programming built-in.

A couple caveats I should mention about this OpenTX heli template...
OpenTX by its very nature is infinitely customizable - that's its power. As I mentioned in the video, this is MY collective pitch RC helicopter OpenTX template I use based on the traditional computerized radio helicopter layouts I've been flying with for years, utilizing what is shown on OpenTX University's site and tweaking it to make it "my own". If you don't like this template, then either don't use it or modify it to your liking.
I do use this as the base foundation for all my RC helicopters as I said, but it's not 100% universal of course. There will be some helicopters and more specifically their flybarless systems and other electronics on board that need more features added to this base foundation. These include but are certainly not limited to FBL system gains for cyclic, different agility, stabilization, or rescue mode selections within the FBL systems, governor gain remote adjustments, nitro engine idle control, nitro engine mixture adjustment, turbine FADEC start sequence activation, scale lighting systems & other scale remote systems, etc. Still, this OpenTX heli foundation template is what I build on for all those other add-ons. As the old adage goes, a house is only as good as its foundation :)
