So let me introduce you my upgraded Tamiya TGS-R (2004).
I bought this used and damaged car in early 2018 : there was no engine, the fuel tank & both steering arms were broken, brake rod & gears missing.
As the TGS/TGS-R cars are ""mostly"" made with TT-01, there are some nice options avaible and some improvement to do.
Let me show you how can you obtain the most of it ;-)
Next possibles upgrade for it : blue aluminium steering arms, and a racing manifold (HPI drift 3.0 ?) & tuned pipe.
I installed :
Tamiya TT01/TGS : New foam bumper + alu plate at front ( and put the old one at rear), One Way at front, Ball differential (with Tungsten Carbide Diff Balls ! and 850 ball bearings) at rear, new brake pad, Tamiya Hard black sping 1/10 for Front
Tamiya TGS-R : new carburator for FS12SW, HE heatsink for FS12S, missing rods & adjusters (I used the old kingpin shell to improve the pressure of the brake adjuster)
Tamiya TT01-D parts : lower arms F & R, adjustable upper arms F & R, Sway bars system (blue for front, yellow for rear)
Tamiya "5 stars" adjustable wheel + HPI tires 26mm
Tamiya FS12S/FS18 drive pressure plate
GPM : "blue" TG100T flywheel for 1 speed car (the replacement of the flywheel reduced the weight on the crankshaft by nearly 24 gramms !!!), "blue" steering rods for TT-01 (huge steering improvement)
Tamiya TGX GE 32 fuel tank
Tamiya 6mm flanged tube + inox 3mm/14mm or 20mm + slim 3mm inox shims to replace all the Tamiya Step Tapping screws, and Tamiya 5mm ball connectors for shock absorbers fixations.
Tamiya large 32mm air filter
OS "normal" spark plug (A6 ?)
Eagle model blue Kingpin shell
Yeah Racing Tamiya TT 01/TT 01E Aluminium Universal Cvd F & R, "700" shock oil to refill the missing liquid into the 4 shock absorbers.
AliExpress : Lot of black O-rings 3mm, inox 3mm screews, fuel pipes, blue fuel filter, blue back pressure cooler, FlySky 2.4 Ghz system, fuel pipes, bearings (ABEC 5 or 7 and each time checked before use)...
The engine plate was polished, and the engine too.
The engine was dessassembled, cleaned, checked, got new bearings : metal at rear, hybrid at front, oiled, new joins
HSP recoil starter for .28 engine (new 3/4 layers of gasket to fill the gap...)
The green filter at the clutch was removed due to the thick GPM flywheel.
