Welcome to the world of radio controlled Off-Road Truck racing - but Indoors!
This is Round 3 of 5 in the Auckland Indoor Radio Control Club 2021 Summer Series.
These are the monsters of all categories on racing bill. Labelled as 1/10th scale, their proportions are absolutely unique, with an almost square wheel base-wheel track. The have huge tyres, huge suspension travel, limited modified motors and skilled drivers.
With a huge wheel track, passes will need to be clean - drivers will have to patiently wait for their moment when it comes. Drivers have already done 2 rounds of qualifying, and unfortunately today we have been robbed of a competitive racer from the grid - as our pole sitter is a DNS. In the next 300 seconds we'll find our winner; who can hustle their Stadium truck to race victory?... here we go!
Class specs:
1/10th electric 2WD Stadium Truck
10.5 turn brushless motor limit
1700 gram minimum weight
Open suspension travel, open steering travel.
Just have a look at the suspension and steering geometry through these Xray XT2 images, how they manage bump steer, and weird angles at various deflection rates is a thing of beauty. Absolute bags of caster on the thing, make sure you get a grunty servo to deal with the heavy steering:
