We have bought two gliders on Ali-express for a price of about two euros each. The wingspan of these aircraft is 48 centimeters. We mount a double-wing plane.

One tip has been cut from each wing and both wing have been joined into the cut. The wing has been reinforced with a piece of carbon fiber rod 2.5 millimeters in diameter and 65 centimeters long. The wingspan is now 79 centimeters. The surface of the main wing is 0.0612 square meters.

The carbon fiber rod is not capable of keeping the wings straight, so it bends downwards by its own weight. This gives a negative dihedral angle that causes the lateral instability of the airplane. Therefore, we have tightened the wings with a thread to keep them straight.

The ailerons have been trimmed directly from the wings. At the top, wooden sticks have been placed to define the hinge line well. In addition, strips of duct tape have been arranged to secure the hinge. Toothpicks have been placed on the trailing edge to prevent the deformation of the ailerons.
The rudder is made from an extruded polystyrene sheet cut from a food tray. It has a width of 2.5 centimeters and is sewn in 4 points to the horizontal stabilizer using fishing line.

We have placed wooden sticks to reinforce the stabilizers and the entire fuselage. A few pieces of EVA rubber are placed to cushion landings. The leading edge of the wings has been lined with duct tape. It is important to put all these protections, because the foam of these gliders is very fragile and breaks easily by shear strength or bending moments.
On the extrados of the wings, we have placed yellow duct tape to distinguish the orientation of the plane when it is far away.

The battery has been placed in the belly to keep the center of gravity low, thus we prevent the center of gravity from being above the motor's thrust line. If this were to happen, the aircraft would show an undesirable tendency to pitch up.

We have powered the aircraft with a 22 by 8 brushless motor with 1400 speed constant. 7-inch propellers can be used with this motor, although we have used a 6-inch APC propeller. The ESC is 30 amps. The batteries are 3 cells and 500 milliamps per hour. The servos are 3.7 grams. The canopy has been removed because the ESC needs to be cooled by the air stream.

The weight of the aircraft is 250 grams. We have found the right position of the center of gravity at 3 centimeters from the leading edge of the wing. The wing loading is 4 kilograms per square meter. Flight autonomy with this battery is about 5 minutes.
