Having some fun flights with the gorgeous F-16 80mm EDF rc jet from FMS Model at my other Club with asphalt runway... w00t!
That day, a friend was also ground testing for the first time the gas turbine engines installed in his custom painted Jolly Rogers F-14 from Skymaster, along with some taxi testing to get used to the model's handling and make sure everything works correctly. Hopefully we'll get to see and capture the jet's maiden soon enough!
Back to the F-16, it does turn out a bit draggy with all the ordnance loaded up, but it still can hold its own despite the penalty (although not as good as the newer Freewing Eurofighter, in that regard). One way or another, it looks TOTALLY BADASS! :DDD
The F-16 is a very interesting jet to fly, on one hand it lacks rudder authority (compared to jets like the Su-35, F-22, MiG-29 or any 'eurodelta') but on the other, it is a very agreeable airframe, easy to steer and really high-alpha friendly!
I'm also flying this one on my new Jeti transmitter with a REX6A gyro-integrated receiver and I also have added a MUI200 current sensor, which helps making the most out of each and every flight!
So far I'm keeping the jet unpainted, in the plain grey military livery of the USAF but in the near future I will probably repaint it in the belgian XTM scheme from the 31st Tigers Squadron, which I had the pleasure to watch perform live back in 2022 and immediately fell in love with it! :)
Actually, that F-16 is probably the reason I decided I had to include a Viper in my fleet, hahaha! :D
This jet is truly outstanding as a scale model, with a plethora of scale details and with the possibility of installing a lot of ordnance, including fuel tanks, short and medium range missiles! That's also one of the reasons I wanted to get the jet... it looks gorgeous in the air showing off with all the underslung gear installed! Here, on the second flight I was already flying it with a couple of fuel tanks, but wait for it... because I loaded it even more heavily already on the third, fourth and fifth sorties! (Video coming soon!) :p
These were flights 12th to 14th on 'Skye', as I decided to kindly dub this airframe ;)
