In this video, I make a few flights with the Durafly Tundra. I bought this plane used and cracked the stock prop, so I'm using a smaller 10x5 prop that certainly has less pull on 3s. There's no talking in this video but plenty of electric motor/propeller sounds plus bonus WIND noise! Yay.

Enjoy the video and I'll see you in the next one.

Let's chill in the comments, talk RC and anything else happening in your life. Maybe you came here from RC, maybe this video was recommended because it's in essence, a vlog. Either way, it's cool here. We're all friends!

A few words about my jet..

What I like about the Lippisch:

1. She's small and fits into the car beautifully
2. Incredibly fast and reactive for the size
3. Cheap entry into EDF aircraft
4. Only uses cheap, small 3S batteries to achieve these great speeds
5. Excellent flight envelope - stable at low and high speed
6. The 5 blade fan is punchy and sounds great whizzing by

What I don't like about the Lippisch:

1. Hand throwing has a steep learning curve
2. Requires a launch switch which deflects the elevators up about 5mm upon launch which requires deactivation once the aircraft is flying. It's one extra thing to have to worry about during a nervous maiden
3. Not suitable for pilots who have limited stick experience on fast prop planes, those with bad eyes or slow response times
4. No matter how gentle your landings, the belly will scuff (use protective tape)
5. Despite Freewing's attention to care and detail, the paint chips easily. Make sure you touch the paint up regularly to avoid peeling and add a clear coat to the paint
6. Those who struggle programming their TX will have to fiddle somewhat to get their elevon programming in place (it's not that hard but something to consider)

Current Gear:

Filming: GoPro Hero 5, Samsung Galaxy S8

Transmitter: FlySky FS-i6X with 8Ch receiver.

Transmitter batteries: 4 x 2000mAh AA 'Energizer Recharge'

Planes:

Durafly Tundra [1300mm] running on stock gear except the prop which is a 10x5 to handle 4s power.

Freewing Lippisch 64mm EDF (stock 5 bladed fan on a 3s configuration). I've flown her with great success on both 3S 1800mAh and 2200mAh batteries.

Volantex Phoenix V2 2000mm (Banggood)

Used FMS SuperEZ V2 RTF ($180 - Bargain!) [now broken :( ]
Receiver and flight batteries: 4 x Zeee 2200 mAh 50c 3s
1 x Predator 1500 mAh 25c 3s (puffed)
Charger: iMAX B6AC single channel charger ($39 ebay purchase)

Simulator: ClearView
Favourite ClearView Aircraft: New favourites - MiG-15 and F-86 EDFs and the aileron trainer of all planes. She just sounds really great and is pretty responsive.
Favourite ClearView flying site: Osage Park.

Current setup on the Phoenix:
Two settings of flaps (40 degrees and 80 degrees)
