Second flight of the day should have been an improvement on what was a fairly good first formation flight. But it wasn't. It was bad. It actually couldn't have been much worse. Jason's jet hit one of the many lumps in the grass and that pitched the nose up, the model got into the air too early and it immediately stalled, resulting in a spectacular cartwheel. To add insult to injury James's jet followed up behind and got in the air only to collide with Jason's jet and rip the wing off! This would have been a little unsettling for any RC pilot. James was keen to get his jet back on the ground because he didn't know what damage had been caused, but he had to wait until Jason cleared his wreckage. James executed a less than perfect landing and ripped the landing gear off his jet. Fortunately we all laughed about it. It is a hobby after all. Repairs will be made (or new jets purchased) and we'll try again.
