After familiarising with using the motion controller in my first video it was time to challenge myself with capturing some air to air action video.

It's actually not too challenging to chase using the motion controller and risk is minimal, because the Avata has prop guards, but I discovered there are limitations with the motion controller. First thing to point out is the importance of having a 'spotter' when flying FPV especially when flying close to an RC aeroplane like this. Trevor helped me out with this and it was especially useful to know where I was relative to Finn flying the Super Cub when I flew in front of him. Interestingly when travelling downwind the RC aeroplane would get away from me. In Sport mode the Avata does not have enough speed to keep up. Manual mode, allows almost, twice the speed but can only be unlocked when using the DJI FPV controller which I have on order. The limitations of the motion controller make it impossible to fly sideways and backwards. That combined with sometimes moving in front of the RC aeroplane meant that I quickly lost where it had gone. I'm hoping that in a future video I will be able to keep up with the RC aeroplane with more speed unlocked in Manual mode and have more control to enable me to keep the RC aeroplane in frame for longer action shots !

Filmed by Dom for the 'Essential RC' YouTube channel using the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K camcorder. Onboard action captured using the video captured on the DJI Goggles 2 SD card which also shows the OSD telemetry. 4K 60 video is captured onto the SD card in the Avata but this is not recorded with OSD telemetry.
