Research project by Mustafa Alp
A completely new project has begun yesterday after 3 months of extensive development!
Yesterday I successfully performed the first tests of a fully autonomous RC car. Yes, you heard that right, the car in the video is fully self-driving!. It was an intense experience for me, nervously watching whether the car would steer into the corners or decide to go straight ????
The car is composed of an Xray T4 2019 chassis, Hobbywing electronics and a Highest servo, a pretty standard competition car. On top of those, a custom computer is developed with a custom software acting as the brain of the car, along with high precision GPS and IMU sensors.
Right now these are the baby steps of the test run, as the car does not fully capitalise the perfect racing line, or maximum tyre friction/ motor power. After safety precautions are completely satisfied, the real challenge will start whether the machine can reach the level of a human driver.
Stay tuned as we will go faster the following weeks!
