Atomix MicroCar RC toy car TEAR DOWN

Atomix Micro Car RC toy car TEAR DOWN. Picked this up in a charity shop for £1. It worked for literally a few seconds but the battery clearly was not holding any charge so we have a look inside and I will think about buying some replacement batteries. The existing battery has no details written on it but I am guessing it is either NiCad or NiMh and the size is 1/3 AAA. Looking on eBay the cheapest 1/3 AAA NiMh batteries I can see are £7 for a pack of 5 so much more than I paid for the car. Another option would be to use the receiver for a small indoor aeroplane.
