Asphalt Training RC - 1/8 Track - Touring - 2WD
I'm at a new location and testing on-road cars on the tarmac. This is an area that belongs to the Norwegian Road Administration. They use it when they check trucks. We have been allowed to drive here when it is free, but they cannot say anything about when it is free because the checks will come randomly and unexpectedly. So we can't set up a lot of equipment because if they come and start checking trucks then we have to be away from the area within about 5-10 minutes.
So that's why I just marked some circles with chalk. It goes away easily if there is a little rain. I also put a red dot with spray in each circle. So that next time I can just locate the 9 red dots and draw a circle around it with the chalk. So that it is much faster and easier to draw again.
First tested with 1/8 track Serpent Viper 989E. It worked well, a bit tight in some places but good enough practice for me.
So with the Xray X4 2022 touring car which has a 13.5T engine and 0 ESC timing, so stock or "Blinky" as it is called. Very good grip with 30 shore front and 28 shore rear. No tire warmer or tire lubrication.
Finally the Schumacher Mission FT which is 2WD front wheel drive. Had problems with the rear tires not being able to attach/grip. Changed to 28 shore at the back and somewhat better but still a bit slippery. Changed to 35 shore foam rubber in the rear and it worked better. The car is possibly a bit light at the back, so have now attached a weight of approx. 50 grams at the back. So will test it again later.
This is a nice location and good for training. But must bring more people next time. Especially good with 1/10 touring, but the space is so large that most things can be driven here. Also nitro is possible here for is traffic around this area.
