I had a number of questions about the XFY Pogo from my post yesterday, so I thought I'd show this masterpiece in action. This is Astronaut and aviation legend (and now Academy of Model Aeronautics Hall of Fame member ????) Hoot Gibson demonstrating the power system and gearbox operation of his scratch-built RC XFY Pogo. He designed and built the entire airframe himself, including the gearbox for the counter-rotating propellers, which was originally powered by a glow engine and has since been converted to electric. The model has only ever hovered at about 4" on a tether to date and needs more testing before considering a full flight. Just amazing engineering! ????
