The FAA will establish airspace restrictions affecting UAS operations January 31 to February 3, 2019 centered on Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA due to pre-Super Bowl and Super Bowl activity. NOTAMs will be issued depicting a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) with all UAS aircraft flight operations prohibited during Specific times. UAS operations are authorized within the defined SSI airspace if in compliance with published requirements. The FAA recommends that all aircraft operators check NOTAMs OFTEN for mandatory airspace restrictions prior to operations within this region. Let’s be careful out there, folks... The next-generation of quadcopter could take on new appearances and capabilities, according to FlightWave Aerospace. FlightWave has developed a new control system they call the tiltpod — which the company describes as a compact motor, propeller and servo with a thrusting and tilting function. The new configuration has the potential to effectively ‘eliminate’ the pitch and roll aspect of quadcopters, enhancing stability and control. OK... surprise, surprise... but recent alarms about yet another drone airport invasions appear to be unprovable. Imagine that... Still; drone hysteria, much of it not well-verified, continues to light up the news. Reports of a drone flying near Teterboro airport last week caused delays at Newark Liberty International Airport for about 20 minutes. But it may have been just another false alarm. The FAA said that it had been unable to independently confirm that whatever was seen by a Southwest and a United pilot was actually a drone.
