Vicki Butler-Henderson takes us on a detailed walk around of the All-New, All-Electric Mustang Mach-E.
Ford is expanding the Mustang family, bringing the famous pony into the electric age with the Mustang Mach-E, an all-electric SUV born of the same free-spirited ideals that inspired the best-selling sports coupe in the world.
Mustang Mach-E comes in two models; The Rear-Wheel Drive and the All-Wheel Drive model that’s powered by duel motors to deliver a class leading 0-100 kilometers per hour in 5.1 seconds. Both models come with an extended-range battery option that gives the Mustang Mach-E a driving range of up to 610km.*
There’s three unique drive modes – Whisper, Engage and Untamed – each offering finely tuned driving dynamics, packaged with a distinct sensory experience.
The next-generation SYNC 4A** communications and entertainment system learns drivers’ preferences while cloud-based connectivity and voice recognition helps make navigation, music and connecting your smartphone faster and easier. Thanks to over-the-air updates the SYNC 4A system evolves over time and is capable of enhancing vehicle performance.
The Mustang Mach-E maximises SUV space. The front trunk storage unit provides 81 litres of storage space and the rear trunk offers over 400 litres of space. With the rear seats down, the Mustang Mach-E boasts over 1,500*** litres of space. Available as an option is the premium B&O Sound System and the optional panorama fixed-glass roof come with infrared protection.
‘Phone As A Key’ technology uses Bluetooth to detect customers’ smartphones as they approach, unlocking the Mustang Mach-E and allowing them to start driving without getting their phones out of their pockets or using a key fob. A backup code can be entered into a keypad on the B-pillar to unlock the vehicle.
Ford offer plenty of charging solutions at home or on the go. A Public Charge Cable is supplied as standard with the vehicle and there’s the Connected Wallbox solution, delivering up to five times the charging power of a typical domestic socket. The connected navigation system identifies up-to-date public charging locations and prompts owners to charge at the most convenient points on each drive.
Using connectivity delivered by the FordPass Connect on-board 4G modem, the FordPass app**** will give customers access to Europe’s largest – and fast-growing – network of more than 155,000 public charging stations in 21 countries.
Ford is also a founder member and shareholder in the IONITY consortium that is rolling out 400 high-power-charging stations in key European locations. This enables a significant reduction in charging times for all-electric vehicles compared with existing systems. Mustang Mach-E owners who opt for the extended range battery will be able to charge 73 miles (119km) in just 10 minutes.
