Latest 1S Li-Pol Micro RC Ultralight Airplane for back yard, calm air or indoor flying. The MIA1SAUL2021. One of a series in the MIA RC Microlight Ultralight line. I mention both microlight and ultralight because there is a also a true weight shift, microlight, part of this series, that run on 1S , very similar to one I also did close to 2 decades ago which ran on 6-50mah Ni-Cads. Also part of this series but not shown fully is paraglider and shown partially an autogyro.
What is missing? Micro Helicopters? well, I did those back in the early 90's and sold kits and upgrades for many many years, as well, but I am a bit tired of them, so I am not showing them with this series. I hope people don't mind.
The beauty about designing these for 1S is that is is super inexpensive, to operate and the models are so lightweight the way I design them that some of these models fly close to ten minutes on one single charge, when the air is dead calm and I am not pushing the model for crazy maneuvers. I like to fly in scale, most of the time, but at times I like to explore the limits of each model. And believe me I have crashed these model so many times during test flights and if they do not meet my expectations I do not offer them of shown them on video.
At the "very worst case" in a hard crash, a bit of CA is all required to get them back in the air in a matter of minutes. Try that with a large balsa airplane. This is where MIA Micro-FLIGHT shines, and you will see the huge difference in my kits as compared to other commercial products or DIY wannabes. My designs have to pass stringent testing for Durability, Performance and Aesthetics. a standard process part of MIA Micro-FLIGHT since 1999 .
These are quite a change of pace from the larger RC Microlight RC ultralight Airplane models I design and manufacture. Been at it with the larger 1/4 scale RC Microlights and ultralights since the 80's, and lately these little guys are designed for a quick flying fix when the flying bug bites and one is too lazy to go to the flying field.
I fly them mostly at around 1-2:00 AM because the air here in AZ this time of the year is dead calm While great time for test flying these little guys, and my best flights are done at these wee odd hours of the morning, unfortunately no one else is around to video tape and capture some more spectacular and very stable and realistic flights.
These, in indoor arenas where the air is constantly still, would be killers!
I have spent a lot of time and effort in making these to the standards that put MIA micro-FLIGHT on the map more than 20 years ago, with specific unique design features, selection of materials and methods of constructions, not to mention the super spiffy vivid graphics that have been Trademarks of MIA micro-FLIGHT from the start.
