Practice on fluffy and sort of bumpy astroturf on indoor track.
Track layout was going to be changed very soon so I decided to get a video. Also decided to take a video or two or maybe more on every track layouts now. Track layouts are strange. When a new one is set up and a day or two passes by I don't remember anymore almost at all the earlier track layouts. It's nice to get some memories on earlier layouts..
I bought this car a while ago. Before drove with B6.3 and liked also it. Before B6.3 I was driving with S12-2 and liked it also but I now realize I was slightly lost all the time with that car.
Associated is a very popular car here on our club so have now gotten many tips how to set it up and have now learned once again a lot. I think I could get my S12-2 faster now also but am not really interested in that anymore. It was so hard to keep that car in one piece, sorry to say.
Earlier I was running a lot shorter rear link and especially with the S12-2 also quite high real roll center. It felt solid but compared to other drivers there was all the time just a bit of speed missing. Associated cars looked different and looked to have grip there where I was struggling. It could be also the car but mainly I think it was the setup.
This is my last drive on this track layout. Layout changes were started right after this. I got info on the one minute intervals and knew I was having a good speed though making constantly mistakes. The latest setup change must have worked. The last two minutes I was trying to take it more safely but actually made even more mistakes. A kind of cutting a corner there and maybe officially this couldn't be considered legit but I feel I actually lost some time there. That corner was tricky for me all the time. Just was struggling with the rotation all the time, sometimes was driving the corner through and waiting and waiting and then again sometimes braked too much and wasn't able to catch the rear when it started sliding heavily abruptly. Well the slide wasn't an abrupt phenomenom because I was trying to get it sliding but sometimes the heaviness of the slide was too much for me and I kind of had hard time to get the slide to be there but not too big.
Still managed to make my personal best result even though the tires were quite done, like driven something like 10 to 15 drives with the tires. They are at their best on the second drive and the big boys think tires are done after 15 drives (15x 5minute driving).
I usually drive 20 to 25 5minute drives and then consider the tires as done.
To keep the tire costs lower I use two sets of rear tires with one set of front tires and switch the rear tire pairs every drive so that they will be worn on the same rate "hand in hand" so that there won't be a situation where my front tires are like 50% done and the rear tires are new.
